The church of the Divine Shepherdess of Malaga will open its door on the day of the Praise Procession

The atrium of the Capuchinos parish will remain closed to the public due to the Covid-19 pandemic and devotees are requested not to touch the gate and keep the protective distance to avoid contagions.

On Saturday, May 9, she went to the Divina Pastora meeting. The Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic prevents the celebration of the traditional Praise Procession of the Patron Saint of Capuchins, but the temple will open so that devotees can contemplate the Virgin in the distance , from outside the gate of the atrium.
The church will open its door for a total of seven hours , four in the morning and another three in the afternoon. Adapting to the hours of the de-escalation, visiting hours have been set up for each of the population groups defined by the health authorities : children under 14 years of age, adults and people over 70 years of age or dependent people with caregivers. Thus, the opening hours will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Congregation recalls that we are in a phase of de-escalation of confinement and it is everyone's obligation to take extreme precautionary measures to avoid contagion . In this regard, devotees are requested not to touch the gate of the atrium and to maintain the protective distance recommended by the health authorities.
During the aforementioned hours, the Convent of Santa Clara will not be accessible , whose access is made through the main door of the temple. To access at other times on Saturday, May 9, it will be necessary to notify in advance by phone (952258007) to arrange the time with the Poor Clares.

An unprecedented situation

Since the reorganization in 1948 of this Congregation, founded in 1771 by Blessed Fray Diego José de Cádiz, the Patron Saint of Capuchins has always been able to meet her neighborhood in May. Only in 1974 the procession was suspended and it was a sign of mourning for the death, on April 30, of Juan Estrada Castro, our pastor and spiritual director. This time the suspension of the procession is motivated by a pandemic.
The Congregation has allocated to the sustenance of the Poor Clares the game reserved for flowers this May Pastoreño. In the same way, the full collection of the Symbolic Ballots , of 10 euros, which are issued from the 2020 Praise Procession that will not be held , will be destined to Charity -through the parish Caritas Collaborate and request your site ballot here .
