The brotherhoods do not consider for now to recover the processions in September
The president of the Association of Brotherhoods and Brotherhoods of Córdoba, Francisco Gómez Sanmiguel, said on Monday that the Cordoba brotherhoods "are not considering" at this time to recover the processions that, due to the coronavirus, had to suspend last Easter, since they are now "focused" on their assistance to those most in need and, "as always", they will be "at the disposal" of what their diocesan "pastor" tells them.

In statements to Europa Press, Gómez Sanmiguel has reacted in this way after the Bishop of Córdoba, Demetrio Fernández, said that the option of holding processions in September "depends on the brotherhoods and brotherhoods of each parish", since in the Bishopric they are "open to the different proposals "made in this regard, bearing in mind that the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments of the Vatican issued a decree last March offering that option and leaving the decision in the hands of each bishop, resulting in the de Córdoba has left it, in turn, in the hands of the brotherhoods.

Given this, Gómez Sanmiguel has opined that these statements by Fernández "must be framed within that affection and closeness that he has always shown towards the brotherhoods", although he has clarified that, "at this time", the brotherhoods are "trying to help as much as possible ", in the face of" the situation that many families are experiencing, that they are having a really bad time "and, therefore, the brotherhoods are" right now focused on social and welfare work ".

In any case, the president of the Association of Brotherhoods of Córdoba has clarified that it is also impossible to know "how this situation is going to evolve", since, in the framework of the de-escalation of the confinement derived from the current state of alarm by covid-19, "We are now in a phase in which you cannot do street worship activities" that involve "crowds and, for the moment, we don't know how we are going to be in the month of September."

For this reason, as Gómez Samiguel has insisted, "right now, at no time are the brotherhoods raising this issue", and the confreres are "totally dedicated to helping and assisting all the people who are having a really hard time with this situation "of the coronavirus," and with the economic situation that we are going to derive from it ".

Consequently, "right now the important thing is to focus" on the aforementioned assistance work and, "when the time comes, it will be seen", clarifying Gómez Sanmiguel that, "as always, the brotherhoods" will be "available to what our pastor tells us, what our bishop tells us, and we will always be willing to do what is asked of us from the Church.
