Saint Paul suspends the opening of the oratory with the images of the temple including that of Jesus Captive of Malaga

New twist in the already bizarre history regarding the replacement or not of the worship of the images of the parish of San Pablo, including that of Jesús Cautivo, the Lord of Malaga, which finally will not be able to be visited from this Saturday in a chapel enabled provisional on a second floor of the parish hall building. The Trinitarian temple has been in works since Easter and the images it houses have been transferred to that temporary chapel, with the exception of the Virgen de la Soledad, the Brotherhood of the Holy Transfer, and the Christ of Hope in his Great Love, of the Brotherhood of Health, both of large dimensions.

On April 29, the Jesús Cautivo Brotherhood announced that its titular images were going to be transferred intimately to the Amargura parish to worship them once the temples reopen, when Malaga goes to phase 1 of the de-escalated by the pandemic. This Thursday, the change of decision surprised, according to the brotherhood at the request of the pastor, José Manuel Llamas, and it was announced that Jesús Cautivo and the Virgin of the Trinity were staying in that provisional oratory enabled in San Pablo because this Saturday was going to open to the public, in the morning and afternoon, with a limited capacity of 10 people.

However, the church of San Pablo has reported this Friday that the opening of this provisional space is finally suppressed "due to circumstances beyond the control of the parish," as reported on its bulletin board. "It will be reported as soon as it is possible to open," adds the note.

The parish priest of San Pablo has explained to this newspaper that the decision not to finally open that oratory has been taken by him in view of the controversy that the news caused on social networks, in which the initiative was questioned due to the power of attraction that the image of the Captive and the reduced space in which it was going to be exhibited, although two people were going to control the access of devotees so that the capacity was not exceeded. «I did not like the rejection that had occurred on social networks. The intention was good, but by wanting to do the same good we were causing an excessive concentration of people. The matter in the end has gone haywire, so I have thought that it is better not to do it for now, "said José Manuel Llamas.
