Ozone and a marked itinerary to visit La Macarena

The Macarena brotherhood will reopen the public worship of the Basilica starting next Monday, May 11, the date on which the province of Seville enters phase 1 of the Transition Plan for the new normality.

The Governing Board will adopt each and every one of the protection measures for the faithful, visitors and employees, following the provisions of Order SND / 399/2020 of the BOE of May 9, from the Council of Ministers of the Government of Spain of the past April 28 -plasmadas in Annex 2 of the aforementioned Transition Plan- and those approved at the Episcopal Council of the Archdiocese of Seville on May 6.

Before the reopening, the corporation will disinfect the Basilica and its dependencies with ozone to guarantee the asepsis and safety of the faithful, visitors and employees. These ozone disinfection tasks will be carried out daily with the frequency established by the technical indications.

Access to the Basilica will be through a perfectly signposted itinerary, which will safely organize the inflows and outflows of parishioners and visitors. The main gate of the temple will remain open to, on the one hand, facilitate the transit of the faithful keeping the interpersonal distance and without having to touch knobs or door handles and, on the other, so that the Virgin of Hope can be seen from the street without need. to access the Basilica.

Likewise, the temple benches will be bounded and marked to guarantee the safety distance between the faithful who take a seat.

The brotherhood will have information panels in different points of the Basilica with the safety and hygiene recommendations that the faithful and visitors must follow. There will also be hydroalcoholic gel dispensers for the hygiene of the hands of the faithful and visitors.

In this sense, the brotherhood recalls the need to comply with the recommendations made by the Archdiocese of Seville for attendance at liturgical celebrations, including the use of masks and gloves by the faithful and hand washing before and after the mass. During the celebration, the rite of peace will be performed with a contactless gesture and communion will be received preferably in the hand and always keeping the interpersonal distance in line. As for collections, baskets will be enabled for donations and the electronic toothbrush. Finally, the faithful are instructed to follow at all times the instructions of the Basilica staff and the priest who officiates.

The governing board has already determined the size of the Basilica and other dependencies based on the percentage indicated in the transition plan for the new normal, which in phase 1 will be one third of the total capacity.

Visits to the dressing room of the Virgen de la Esperanza will be suspended for the moment due to the small size of this space. Both the Treasury-museum and the Brotherhood House will remain closed for the time being. It must be remembered that Attention to the Brother continues to work by phone and via email.

Schedule
As for the opening hours of the Basilica, this will be from Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and on Sundays and holidays, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.: 00 hours and from 18:00 to 21:30 hours.
